Oncogenic Viruses in Skull Base Chordomas
2018, World NeurosurgeryCitation Excerpt :For real-time PCR, all samples were spiked with murine CMV DNA or RNA, which served as an amplification control following extraction. Real-time PCR for all herpesviruses was performed using primers and probes as described previously,14-23 with the exception of primers targeting HHV-7, for which the primers and probe consisted of the following nucleotide sequences: forward primer: 5′- AACGTGATGCCTAACCAAC-3′; reverse primer: 5′-TAGTTCCAGCACTGCAATCG-3′; probe: FAM-5′-TGTATGCGTGCATTGGAAAGACCG-3′. For respiratory virus detection, a separate reverse-transcription step was performed using TaqMan reverse-transcriptase reagents, random hexamers (Applied Biosystems, Foster City, California, USA), and incubation for 10 minutes at 25°C, for 30 minutes at 48°, and finally for 5 minutes at 95°C.
JC virus/human immunodeficiency virus 1 co-infection in the Brazilian Amazonian region
2016, Brazilian Journal of Infectious DiseasesCitation Excerpt :Similar results were seen in the USA with patients with non-Hodgkin's lymphoma, HIV-1 negative patients,19 and healthy Koreans.20–23 It is believed that JCV infection occurs early in life and therefore it is necessary to monitor the upsurge of disease among healthy individuals or with associated pathologies within different population groups as the virus prevalence is usually high.5,6,8,9 Infection was defined by the presence of two codifying genomic regions, VP1 and IG, which have been fairly correlated with seroepidemiological information among different populations.23–27
